PLATTSMOUTH – Two children have been placed in the custody of their grandmother after they were found left in a vehicle July 10.

Plattsmouth Police were sent to the Cass County Courthouse when a caller said she saw two small children left unattended in an unlocked vehicle on the west side of the courthouse.

Upon arrival, police observed the two children strapped in child seats in the back seat of the car, which had its engine running. Officers said they were there about 17 minutes before an adult returned.

Officer Bob Sorenson arrested Marcia L. Leis, 23, and charged her with child neglect.

Officials with Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services placed the children, ages 5 and 1, in the custody of their grandmother.
