Marilyn Joyce Tesch, 83, of Plattsmouth died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth.
She was born July 25, 1924, in Newcastle to Harvey Earl and Lena (Jensen) Rahn. On Dec. 2, 1947, she married Fred Ernest Tesch.
At age 16 Marilyn was valedictorian of her high school class. She graduated from Wayne State College. Marilyn taught elementary school in Norfolk for two years, where she met the love of her life, Fred Tesch of Atkinson. They spent most of their married life in Plattsmouth where he was the county sheriff and she was the sheriff’s wife, secretary, jail matron, phone receptionist and jail cook. Marilyn was a lifelong reader, knitter, crossword puzzle solver and logic problem solver. Marilyn and Fred remained married for 53 years until he passed away in 2001. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star Home Chapter 189 and First United Methodist Church, both in Plattsmouth.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Al Osler, Lincoln; son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Linda Tesch, Phoenix, Ariz.; son-in-law, Larry and wife Marlys Baye, Vista, Calif.; grandchildren, Karen and husband Chuck Nicholson, Manassas, Va.; Ken and wife Missy Baye, North Platte; David Tesch, Phoenix; Jonathan Tesch, Phoenix; Jamie Osler, Lincoln; Megan Osler, Lincoln; great-grandsons, Dawson Baye and Drake Nicholson; sister, JoAnn Emry, Belveder, Ill.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service was Saturday, June 14, at First United Methodist Church, Plattsmouth, with Pastor Michael McGregor officiating. Sara Fischer was organist.
Pallbearers were Ken Baye, Karen Nicholson, Jamie Osler, Megan Osler, David Tesch and Jonathan Tesch.
She was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth.
