April Marie Bishop, 21, of Plattsmouth died Friday, June 20, 2008, in Falls City.
She was born Sept. 8, 1986, in Omaha to Richard Eugene and Joyce Anna (Puls) Bishop.
April was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth, graduating from Plattsmouth High School with honors, Class of 2004. She then graduated from University of Nebraska – Omaha, Class of 2008, with a degree in music education. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi Music Service Fraternity. April had recently been hired by Falls City High School for the 2008-09 school year as the head band teacher. She had lived in Falls City for three weeks.
Survivors include her parents, Richard and Joyce Bishop, Plattsmouth; sisters and brothers-in-law, Denise and Colin Keierleber, Lincoln; Valerie and Brian DeSalle, Glendale Heights, Ill.; Karen Louise Bishop; nephew, Aiden Knopik; nieces, Krynne and Sariah Knopik; paternal grandmother, Norinne Bishop, Plattsmouth; maternal grandmother, Wilma Puls, Plattsmouth; uncles, Ron and wife Shirley Puls, Omaha; Delbert and wife Diana Puls, Murray; Brad and wife Paula Puls, Charlotte, N.C.; aunt and uncle, Patricia and George McGuire, Rock Hill, S.C.; and numerous cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Giles “Shorty” Bishop and Joseph “Joe” Puls.
Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at First Presbyterian Church, Plattsmouth, with Pastor Ronald Van Heukelom officiating. Eulogists: Denise Louise Bishop and Melissa Berke, Phd; organist, Connie Halouska; and vocalist, Karen Louise Bishop.
Visiting hours: Tuesday, June 24, from 1-9 p.m. with family from 6-8 p.m. at Roby Funeral Home Chapel.
Pallbearers: Andrew Norris, Ben Rasmussen, Matt Sheppart, Ross Snyder, Christopher Stanichar and Adam Witte.
Honorary pallbearers: Matthew Harden, John Keith and James Saker.
Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth.
UNO memorial service at Strauss Performing Arts Center, Omaha, 7 p.m. Thursday, June 26.
