Jack William Scholting, age 87 years. Born Aug. 17, 1920, in Omaha to Jacob A. and Emma Scholting. Entered into rest on June 30, 2008, in Louisville.
Married to Pauline Sturzenegger of Gretna on Jan. 11, 1943. Jack served his country as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and was in the South Pacific at the invasion of Okinawa and the surrounding islands. After the war he and Pauline farmed in the Gretna, Richland and Springfield area. Jack was a proud member of Legion Post 143 and served as Commander and on the Color Guard.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Pauline; four children, Timothy Scholting of Louisville, Lois and Roland Jurgensen of Burwell, Gregory and Terri Scholting of Louisville and Christopher and Linda Scholting of Springfield; siblings, Vivian Sturzenegger of Gretna, Deloris White of Camden, S.C., and Roger Scholting of Covington, Texas; grandchildren, Aaron Scholting, Trevor and Michelle Scholting, April and Matt Jackson, Alison and Kamden Draper, Lexie, Haylie, Abbie and Samantha Scholting; and four great-grandchildren, Gage, Kade, Mallory and Ellie.
Visitation: 1-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Kahler Dolce in Papillion, with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gretna at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 3.
Interment: Springfield Cemetery
