Ruth Maxine Lindsey, 86, of Union died July 14, 2008, at Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln.
She was born Sept. 20, 1921, in Syracuse to Fred and Mary (Neeman) Viox Sr.
Ruth loved flowers, sewing and crocheting doll clothes. She babysat for many kids in Union over the years and was affectionately known as Grandma Lindsey to many of them. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, Nebraska City Eagles Auxiliary and Union American Legion Auxiliary for which she served as secretary for several years.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Magaw and her husband Ron of Hamburg, Iowa; brother, Fred Viox Jr. and his wife Ruth of Nebraska City; numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Frank Williams and Carl Lindsey; sister, Ilene Wallace; and brother, Alvin Neeman.
Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at Union Baptist Church, Union, with the Rev. James Gill Cummings officiating.
Visitation hours: 1-9 p.m. Friday at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with the family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m.
