Local coaches, volunteers to earn recognition at state banquet

LINCOLN - Several Cass County coaches, athletic directors and volunteers will receive recognition for their efforts at the Nebraska Coaches Association's annual banquet in Lincoln Sunday, July 27.

Elmwood-Murdock head boys basketball coach Terry Warner and Plattsmouth head track coaches Chris Wiseman and Todd Nott will be recognized for coaching state championship teams. Elmwood-Murdock athletic director and superintendent Dan Novak will receive recognition for serving 25 years as a coach and athletic director.

Charles and Mary Caverzagie of Plattsmouth will receive the Friends of High School Sports Award. Dave Schultz of Nebraska Orthopaedic will also receive the award.

The 41st annual banquet will be held at the Historic Train Station in the Great Hall in the Haymarket area of Lincoln. A reception and registration will begin at 6 p.m. and dinner will start at 6:30 p.m. Tickets must be ordered no later than Thursday by calling the NCA office at 402-434-5675.
